The purpose of the Fighting Soldier is to win the battle on the ground, and to do that his job is to kill the enemy.

The soldier's skill and brain are his most important assets. He has been trained to use his weapons effectively and only directs them at those who they are intended for. His duty is to point his rifle at the other guy and shoot him dead.

Only brave men and women who have the courage and character, can ensure that the cause of freedom will survive. They fight not only for their citizens, but for the freedom of everybody in the whole world.

The ultimate determinant in war: is the fighting soldier on the scene with a gun and the skill to use it accurately. The soldier is the final power in a war; because he controls the inevitable prospect of who will win.

A fighting business dealing in death

Being special forces is a serious business; they are not a social club or a fraternal organisation, and they don't pretend to be one. However they are a brotherhood of 'warriors' nothing more, nothing less, putting it simply; they are combatants. The fact is they are in the fighting business that deals in death, and unfortunately these days; business is good.

There has only ever been two types of warriors in this world. Those that serve tyrants who enforce injustice and oppression and those that serve freedom for all of mankind.

The Fighting Soldier soon learns that a true believer is training to kill him. He is training with the minimum of food and water, in austere conditions, day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon.

He doesn't worry about what workouts to do - his rucksack weighs what it weighs, and when being pursued he runs until his enemies stop chasing him. The true believer doesn't care how hard it is; he knows he will either win or die. He doesn't go home at 17:00 hours he is at home, knowing for him it is only the cause that he believes in matters.

Only the Methods change not the Fighting

The Roman Legions put soldiers in the mud to protect or to defend - and for the soldier today it is the same. In war you must defend or protect on the ground if you want to save the land for civilisation.

In Iraq and Afghanistan; elections were only possible because of the soldiers on the ground who did whatever was required of them.

You cannot exaggerate about Commandos - they are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the best and most ferocious fighters around, and the amusing thing is history has proven they are.

The Commandos do not have stunt doubles to stand in for them when it gets dangerous or when the going gets tough and the bullets and the shrapnel starts flying. They will go into the thickest of the fight, where only the bravest dare go. They fight not for fame or reward, but in the simple obedience to duty as they understand it. The price of their victory is often cruel for those who have to pay it.

War creates a bonding of fighting brothers

The enemy has no response for the band of brothers that are willing and ready to die for each other. Soldiers that will risk everything to rescue their injured comrade and then return to fight in the fiercest of battles.

The patriot volunteer, fighting for freedom makes the most reliable soldier, nothing is as strong as his heartfelt belief that every person should be able to live freely, with whom ever they choose.

The Fighting Soldier is the centrepiece of all combat units, he is the most flexible and adaptable asset they have. He can retask rapidly from combatant to stability operations or defence at home or abroad. And he above all others prays for peace, for it is he who must bear the scars and suffer the deepest wounds of war.

War is a creator of closeness and bonding between fighting soldiers uniting them like brothers, they will share their water and food; even their ammunition if needs be. When they go into combat together they go united as one; it will always be us or me and my mates and no matter how tough it gets these guys will stick together through the action whether it be thick or thin.
