Heart-Breaking News

The previous page was: "Gibraltar"

It is always Heart-Breaking news hearing of a British soldier killed in action or wounded by a roadside bomb; even more so to the Royal Marines family when it is one of their soldiers that have fallen.

The repatriation is a time of sensitive sadness for all involved.

Attending the route lining members of the Royal Marines Association turn out in force; showing the true depth of the Royal Marines family.

The significant impact of their presence displays the respect they have for their kin.

Admiration is noticeable for the way the Corps, and in particular the Royal Marines Association, how they look after their fallen by way of mass turn out.

Their presence at both repatriation and the funerals is seen as politeness and courtesy by serving and former Royal Marines unable to attend.

The Royal Marines Association is held in great esteem by those who have witnessed their support and dedication to the Corps family.

BLESMA

"British Limbless Ex Serviceman's Association"

(BLESMA) aims to give ex-Service men and women who either lost limbs, the use of their limbs, or one or both eyes as a result of service or after service in any branch of Her Majesty's Forces or Auxiliary Forces, a counselling and caring service and help in everyday problems.

It also provides them with challenging and interesting activities aimed at returning their lives to a relatively even keel.

They need our help to ensure the support of our long term injured; please help us to help some extraordinarily courageous young men and women that gave so much and ask for so little in return.

All this costs a large amount of money. They receive no Government Grants and rely wholly on the generosity of the public.

Royal Marines Charitable Trust FundFunds

The Royal Marines maintain charitable funds to support and enable welfare, morale and esprit de corps.

Income to these funds is heavily reliable on the generosity of the donors.

Whilst the Corps would gladly welcome donations to either of the two funds below, Corps Funds Trustees are particularly keen to encourage donations to the: "Royal Marines 1939 War Fund."

The Royal Marines

1939 War Fund

The 1939 War Fund exists to maintain the efficiency and esprit de corps of the Royal Marines and also provide benevolence support to those in need.

In addition to benevolence work, there are many other calls upon Corps funds.

These range from providing wreaths at Remembrance services through support to veterans reunions and the Royal Marines Museum to the construction and maintenance of war memorials.

The Royal Marines 1939 War Fund is a Registered Charity, No. 248733
