Modern-day Piracy
Piracy attacks are increasing

Ships of all sizes are suffering from modern-day piracy attacks; pirates are now sailing the high seas where the buccaneers of old once roamed.
At one time they used swords, daggers and pistols, to-days pirates use sub machine guns, rockets launches as standard tools of their trade; and they will use any other highly powerful tools that will help their cause.
People often look on pirates in a romantic and playful way
without realising what cut throat killers they really are.
Today anti-piracy warfare of a technical nature is now a basic
requirement to protect ships on the high seas.
Jungle Warfare
Pirates prefer to attack after dark
The pirates attack when a target comes into their field of attack; then they prefer to carry out their assault after darkness falls.
They are more inclined to approach a target from the stern of a ship where the concentration is less likely to be; most shipping likes to keep an eye on where they are going because they do not want to hit into anything.
Pirates look for carelessness like ropes dangling down or trailing in the sea. Some get aboard by using thick long bamboo poles lashed together with a grappling iron on the top bamboo.
They can carry more poles than they need and lash them together accordingly. Once they have built their pole ladder and have it attached they can shin up it to get aboard a ship. The tied joints on the poles make resting places when needed; once on board the pirates usually cause havoc and strife.
Captured in the Mallacca Striates
A large cargo carrier was captured in the Mallacca Striates. The pirates docked the ship in the sound off of Singapore; and then they went ashore.
When the customs could not get any response from the ship; they went out to investigate why they had not responded to the messages.
They found all of the crew dead with their throats slit; some members had brought their partners and children with them they too suffered the same fate.
The pirates who went ashore were not seen or heard of again.
There are many other incidents like this they happen on a regular basis; I am putting a link on where you can read your own piracy reports; they are updated every week.
Pirates like to operate close to the coast often where the jungle can give them some protection; but this is where some of them fall victim to their surroundings.
